InformedDNA Provides Access to Genomically Guided Healthcare

Increased focus on product development aims to support health plans to better integrate genomics into member benefits.

InformedDNA®, the nation’s leading applied genomics solutions company, today announced it is building on their foundation in genomics care delivery and benefits management expertise to launch a new set of scalable solutions to enable wider access to genomically guided healthcare for patients, providers, and health plans. In alignment with its strategic focus on providing scalable solutions designed to change how genomics is integrated into healthcare, the organization also welcomed two new leaders.

Health plans are challenged to keep pace with the rapidly expanding number of new genomic tests, technologies, and therapies streaming into the market. Most plans do not have the infrastructure nor the in-house clinical genomics expertise to address this challenge head on, leading to ineffective genomics coverage policy, increased administrative costs, and lack of appropriate access to genomics care for their members.

Long-standing genomics expertise and experience give InformedDNA the unique perspective needed to solve these challenges for health plans. Thus, the company will primarily focus on the creation of scalable products to support health plans in providing greater access to high quality genomics healthcare for their members through medical policy development, genomics benefit management solutions, and a value-based approach to genomics care to reach broader populations.

“Health plans want to do what is best for their members by making high quality care accessible and affordable. However, given the pace of change and innovation in genomics, it’s hard for them to ensure the right care is reaching the right member at the right time,” said Sobha Pisharody, Chief Strategy and Product Officer at InformedDNA. “By translating our clinical and molecular genomics expertise into a technology-enabled solution, we will deliver the best outcomes for patients and plans.”

In support of InformedDNA’s transition to a platform approach, the company recently welcomed Joe Ruvalcaba as its Chief Technology Officer and Lindsey Harris as its Vice President of Marketing. Harris brings a wealth of experience within the marketing industry and a passion for customer advocacy, creative strategy and product positioning, while Ruvalcaba brings key expertise as a successful technology executive in the healthcare industry, most recently as Vice President of Architecture at AbleTo. These new leaders will expand technology and engagement capabilities that meet the needs of the market and cost-effectively drive member and provider engagement.

“We’re committed to building technology-enabled solutions for health plans of all sizes so they can get members and staff the value-added genomics information they need to ensure access to appropriate care,” said Ruvalcaba. “InformedGENOMICS™ is our initial product offering in this new phase, with enhancements including expanded decision support and genomics policy guidance.”

“These are strategic investments that accelerate our vision of genomically guided healthcare for all through enhanced support for plans, providers and patients,” added Chief Medical Officer Rebecca Sutphen, MD, FACMGG.
